New versions of netCDF FAQ, Software documents

Hi,

The netCDF FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) document, available to web
browsers at the URL

    http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/packages/netcdf/faq.html

has been rewritten, organizing the questions to make it easier to find
answers and revising the document to include mention of the netCDF 2.4 beta
release. The following new questions (with answers) have also been
included:

 - What is new in the netCDF 2.4 release?
 - Is there a document describing the actual physical format for a Unidata
   netCDF file?
 - Is netCDF available for Windows NT?
 - Has anyone implemented client-server access for netCDF data?
 - What ever happened to plans to write a complete set of netCDF operators?
 - How do I search through past problem reports?
 - How does the C++ interface differ from the C interface?
 - How does the Fortran interface differ from the C interface?
 - How does the perl interface differ from the C interface?
 - What other future work on netCDF is planned?

The document "Software for Manipulating or Displaying NetCDF Data" available
at

    http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/packages/netcdf/software.html

has also been extensively revised and reorganized to list packages
according to whether they are freely-available or licensed. New entries
were added for DODS, EWB, LinkWinds, PolyPaint+, and PPLUS. Many new links
were added, and links that didn't work were updated or deleted.

Please send corrections or suggestions on either of these documents to me
rather than the whole netcdfgroup mailing list. Thanks!
