NetCDF on Alpha OpenVMS 6.1

For all the Alpha/VMS users:

   it seems that the c run-time library on Alpha VMS 6.1 has some problems
   with buffering. I have discovered two different instances, one of which
   concerns NetCDF. I am talking to DEC to come up with a proper and 
   permanent solution.
   In the mean time, I have come up with a patchy solution, so, if you are
   experiencing difficulties in this area, contact me and I can help you.
   As soon as DEC comes up with a more permanent solution, I will post it
   on this bboard.
