A new file extension for netCDF files?

>If anyone knows of an existing conflict with the ".nc" extension, or wants
>to argue why it is too late to begin changing the netCDF file extension from
>".cdf" to ".nc", please let us know. Thanks.

When I realized that I might have to use (gasp!) CDF files, I decided to
change the file extension I use for netCDF files to ".ncd". Three letters
seems to be more "standard" than two, although that may be as anachronistic
as 80 column cards, oops, I mean 80 byte records.
