Here are the final results of the mailing-list poll for whether we should
set up an automatic digest for the netcdfgroup mailing list:
1. mailing list only: 45%
2. digest only: 26%
3. both mailing list and digest: 29%
There were a total of 62 votes out of 228 mailing list addresses, many of
which contained thoughtful comments about administration of the mailing
list.
Although option #1 got the most votes, we choose to interpret the fact that
a majority voted for a digest either exclusively (#2) or in combination with
a mailing list (#3) to be a mild mandate for setting up a digest in addition
to the regular mailing list. We will do this as time permits. When the
digest is ready, users who wish to receive only the daily digest may request
to be removed from the netcdfgroup mailing list and added to the
netcdfdigest mailing list. We will try to keep the administrative chatter
down until then. Please remember to send administrative requests to
netcdfgroup-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx rather than to the whole mailing list.
