We are looking to recover NCEP NAM grid 221 files (preferably in grib2
format) as far back as July 4, 2008.

The policy at NOMADS and NCDC is to keep the real-time for only 24
hours; reanalysis files are kept for a long-term period. It is the
real-time 3-hr forecast tm00.grib2 files that we hope to find cached,
maybe at your site.
