Last summer, weather.admin.niu.edu and weather2.admin.niu.edu got replaced
with new servers. Weather.admin.niu.edu's hard drive failed almost
immediately. About 30 minutes ago, weather2.admin.niu.edu let me know it
was about to do the same. Thankfully, it's under warranty, and a new hard
drive will be shipped today. However, be advised that weather2 could fail
at any time. If you have automagic failover to weather3.admin.niu.edu and
weather.admin.niu.edu, you will not be affected...and this outage is for
informational purposes only. It was determined at the time that the hard
drive manufacturer sent out a bad batch of drives to the vendor;
weather2's drive was working fine until today.
