Oi Marcelo.

Tente matar o processo do syslog-ng com kill -9
Por exemplo:
# kill -9 1901

E depois restarte o syslog-ng  com o comando :

# /sbin/syslog-ng

Os problemas de log normalmente são devidos a erros de
configuração do syslog.

Dá uma olhada no seu diretório de logs (~ldm/logs). Veja
se algum arquivo lá dentro está sendo atualizado. Se
estiver, veja se um stop + start no LDM corrige a situação.

Se não for, teremos que conferir as configurações do syslog.

O seu sistema aí é o SUSE ?
