Re: [galeon] [WCS.RWG] [Coverages.wg] [WCS.rwg] December meeting teleconference line

Hi Ben & all GALEON folks,

in our telecon I had envisaged to send the classification of WCS features ("aspects" in core/extension terminology). After internal discussion, which has delayed this sending, here now I attach a classification scheme, based on a hierarchical aspect grouping and a distinction between "what a coverage is" (conceptual model) and "how coverage requests work" (request functionality). I appreciate any comments & discussion.

Disclaimer: this does not reflect an official WCS.RWG position, nor is it a decided direction to go - it is interim product of a discussion which mainly Arliss and I conduct to find a suitable classification (in my last version, so all errors are mine).

Arliss,

Many thanks for setting up the telecon access option for the Stresa TC
joint Coverages / WCS session next Monday. Unfortunately I'll be in
the air on my way to the AGU meeting in San Francisco, so I will not
be able to participate even by telecon. Fortunately, Peter Baumann
has generously volunteered to give an update on GALEON and the Unidata
OGC Interoperability Day at the last TC -- as they relate to Coverages
and WCS.

Please convey that the GALEON group and I personally are still very
much interested in and committed to contributing in the Coverages and
WCS areas. It's just that the logistical conflicts for this
particular OGC TC were simply insurmountable for many of us.
