One of the things NSF Unidata Program Center staff members do is participate in scientific, technical, and community meetings. The insights we gain by interacting with others at meetings of groups like the American Meteorological Society (AMS), the American Geophysical Union (AGU), the Scientific Python community (SciPy), Earth Science Information Partners (ESIP) or the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) keep us informed about issues and new developments and help us choose how to spend our efforts for the benefit of the Unidata community.

The Raskin Scholarship is open to current graduate students in Earth or computer sciences who has an interest in community evolution of Earth Science data systems. Preference is given to applicants who can demonstrate a connection to ESIP-related activities.
The Federation of Earth Science Information Partners (ESIP) is an open networked community that brings together science, data and information technology practitioners around Earth science issues. The ESIP Community Fellowship program offers students a chance to work closely with professionals in an interdisciplinary, cross-sector group (ESIP collaboration area) on current Earth Science problems. The application deadline for the 2020-21 fellowship is October 9, 2020.
The Raskin Scholarship is open to graduate students, post-docs, and early career (less than five years post graduation) scientists in Earth science, computer science, or a closely related discipline. Preference is given to applicants who can demonstrate a connection to ESIP-related activities. The scholarship seeks to promote collaboration, research support, and exposure for talented students and early career researchers in the Earth or computer sciences. The Scholarship, which is awarded annually, provides a $5000 award and travel support to the ESIP Summer Meeting, where the recipient will have an invited talk covering their field of interest.
