The NSF Institute for Geospatial Understanding through an Integrative Discovery Environment (I-GUIDE) enables transformative discovery and innovation for tackling fundamental scientific and societal challenges that are at the cusp of achieving significant breakthroughs by harnessing the vast, diverse, and ever-growing corpus of geospatial data. The week of August 7-11 2023, I-GUIDE will lead a Summer School on Convergence Science in Action in Boulder, CO.

This year's annual American Meteorological Society meeting was held 8-12 January 2023 in Denver, Colorado. In addition to the conference being a hybrid event with thousands physically in attendance (which felt a bit odd, after the last few years), the location being so close to the Unidata Program Center in Boulder meant more than the usual number of staff members were able to attend as presenters of talks and posters, conveners of sessions, and facilitators of workshops and short courses for students, educators, and researchers. Staff members also spent time meeting community members in the new exhibit hall booth bringing together a variety of UCAR and NCAR programs in one space. As always, we were also glad to meet so many prospective community members at the AMS Student Conference.

With so much going on at the conference, we can't cover everything here. Instead, we present some highlights from the week's events.

Members of the Unidata Program Center staff will be attending the 103rd annual American Meteorology Society meeting, to be held 8-12 January 2023 in Denver, CO. Since 2018, Unidata has been offering JupyterHub resources tailored to the instructional requirements of university atmospheric science classes through the Science Gateway project. In that time, nearly 850 users — mostly undergraduates in atmospheric science programs — have been able to take advantage of cloud-based resources to access pre-configured computational notebooks for learning and teaching objectives.

For the spring 2023 term, Unidata is once again offering universities (or individual instructors) access to cloud-based JupyterHub servers tailored to the requirements of university atmospheric science courses and workshops. Unidata will work with you to customize the technologies and data requirements for your class.
