System Utilities

Commands in this category perform basic workstation control tasks or list information about the current session.

Command Purpose
& (Ampersand) Recalls a previously entered command.
^ (Caret) Recalls previously entered commands.
! (Exclamation Point) Sends a command to the Unix shell.
+ (Plus) Raises the Image Window.
? (Question Mark) Lists the status of McIDAS commands and processes.
/ (Slash) Stops McIDAS commands.

BKGRUN

Sends a command to the operating system.

C Lists a frame's directory.
CASEMODE Sets the case mode for entering McIDAS-X commands.
CLEAR Clears output from text frames.
COLORS Lists the colors available with the global keyword TCOL.
DMAP Lists information about files.
ECHO Displays a line of text on a text frame.
EDITMODE Lists and changes the McIDAS command input editor.
EXIT Ends a McIDAS-X session and associated windows.
F Displays the workstation's state.
FRMLIST Lists frame directory information.
HELP Lists online helps.
KILL Terminates McIDAS commands.
LOGOFF Logs you off the McIDAS session.
LOGON Logs you on to the McIDAS session.

MCRUN

Execute a command after evaluating string variables.

OS Runs an operating system command.

ROUTE

Routing table (ROUTE.SYS) utility.

TFILE Sends text output to a disk file.
TFIND Searches the current text frame.

UPRTE

Update the system routing table (ROUTE.SYS) for a particular product.

WAIT

Pause a user-specified interval of time.
