Hi Gilbert,

>McIDAS doesn't work on the 9.0 upgrade. It gives me errors saying that it
>can't initialize certain colors. Then, the blue box of "Initializing,
>please wait" pops up and stays there, but all the other McIDAS processes

I am interpreting your comments to mean that the failure is occurring when
you are attempting to bring up the MCGUI. The can't initialized certain
colors is most likely the Tcl/Tk startup saying it couldn't grab those
colors since they are already in use. If all of this is true, then
you could try to reduce the number of colors used by Gnome and then
retrying McIDAS. The other thing you could do is startup McIDAS without
the MCGUI and verify that it will, in fact, work OK.

>Oh, BTW, this is occurring on weather, NOT on weather2.admin.niu.edu.
>Weird.

Even more reason to believe that the problem is Gnome using too many colors
before McIDAS is started.
