Update:
The problem turned out to be the way that 'pqcat' was being run
on the UAlaska machines. From memory, here is an example invocation:
pqcat -p "<pattern> -v /opt/ldm/var/queues/ldm.pq
This was writing all of the products in the queue that matched
"<pattern>" to the end of the file that holds the LDM queue.
