16.0 Groups and Types in NetCDF-4
The enhanced netCDF-4 model provides groups to organize data,
and introduces new primitive types and new user-defined types.
- Neither groups nor the new types fit within the classic netCDF
model.
- Existing software for reading classic model data must be
modified to handle data in groups or data of the new types.
- Adding support for the new primitive types is usually the
first and easiest step in supporting the enhanced data model.
