Unidata Update: January 2016

In case you missed it — here's a recap of news from the Unidata Program Center for the month of January, 2016.

Community Survey: Tell Unidata What You Think!

Community Survey

As a community-governed program, Unidata depends on guidance and feedback from educators, researchers, and students in the atmospheric and related sciences. The Unidata Community Survey seeks your feedback both on existing Unidata services and possible future directions for the program. Your ideas will help inform Unidata's path forward; your participation is much appreciated.

If you've already given us your input, thank you! If you haven't had a chance to fill out the survey yet, you still have time. We'll be closing the survey to comments on 8 February 2016.

NetCDF operators (NCO) version 4.5.4

NCO

Version 4.5.4 of the netCDF Operators (NCO) has been released. NCO is an Open Source package that consists of a dozen standalone, command-line programs that take netCDF files as input, then operate (e.g., derive new data, average, print, hyperslab, manipulate metadata) and output the results to screen or files in text, binary, or netCDF formats.

NetCDF 4.4.0

netCDF

Version 4.4.0 of the NetCDF-C library is now available. Highlights of this release include CDM-5 support, support for opening in-memory file content, re-organized cmake configuration, and modifications to ncgen to properly handle the L and UL suffixes for integer constants to keep backward compatibility.

NetCDF-Fortran 4.4.3

netCDF

Version 4.4.3 of the NetCDF-Fortran library is now available. This is primarily a compatibility release that addresses a false negative introduced by netCDF-C 4.4.0 with netCDF-Fortran 4.4.2.
