Save the Date: Unidata Regional Workshop at the University of South Florida

U

The University of South Florida is pleased to sponsor and host a Unidata Regional Workshop on April 10-12, 2015 (Friday through Sunday). Unidata Program Center staff will provide introductory and advanced training in the use of Unidata's Integrated Data Viewer (IDV), the Repository for Archiving, Managing and Accessing Diverse Data (RAMADDA), and other Unidata data and tools. In addition to the formal training sessions, there will be informal opportunities to interact with the UPC staff. Attendees are encouraged to “bring” their own data (preferably accessible from a remote access server) for exploration during the workshop.

The main focus of the workshop will be the use of the IDV to analyze data from a variety of geoscience fields. In addition to atmospheric science data, the IDV has facilities to display and analyze data sets of interest to those working in hydrologic, solid Earth, and GIS fields, among others. Again, we encourage participants to bring datasets relevant to their own projects to workshop to serve as real world examples of IDV capabilities. If you're not sure whether the IDV can work with your particular dataset, feel free to contact Unidata's IDV support staff.

Workshop registration is free, and lunches and coffee breaks will be provided by the School of Geosciences at the University of South Florida and the West Central Florida Chapter of the American Meteorological Society.

For more information or to register for the workshop, contact Randall Hergert at rhergert@mail.usf.edu.

Workshop attendees are also invited to the West Central Florida Chapter of the American Meteorological Society Annual Meeting and Banquet on Friday evening. Louis Uccellini will be the keynote speaker for the banquet. Please go to WCFLAMS.org for more information and to register for the WCFLAMS annual meeting and banquet.
