Information Technology Specialist at NCEP Central Operations

The NOAA National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP) Central Operations is looking to hire an Information Technology Specialist. The position is in College Park, MD.

The individual selected for this position will:

  • Support the continuous ingestion and dissemination of data into and out of the NWS Weather and Climate Operational Supercomputing System (WCOSS) and the Integrated Dissemination Program (IDP) System while ensuring all data and products are delivered to their proper locations on time.
  • Handle the integration testing of proposed changes and determines their impact on other components of the numerical model production suite run on the NWS Weather and Climate Operational Supercomputing System (WCOSS) independently.
  • Analyze and perform the work necessary to plan, develop, acquire, document, test, implement, integrate, maintain, and modify systems and programs related to the National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP) Central Operations Data Flow environment.
  • Work closely and independently with public customers, partners throughout NOAA and across the government to troubleshoot, correct, and effectively communicate problems to the flow of data.
