When you purchase the system, you should make sure that the components
in the machine are compatible with the version of Windows (presumably
NT) and Linux (presumably RedHat 6.2).  If you buy a Dell, you can
get it configured with Linux or Windows (98 or NT), but they will
not guarantee that both will work.  Our experience is that one area
where there are potential difficulties are:

o pcmcia cards
o video chipset

I took our Dell Inspiron 7000 to Australia and absolutely loved
the 15" display.  I didn't find it confining in the least.
