The conversations there are eventually migrated to an archive here: http://unidata.ucar.edu/support/help/MailArchives/netcdf-java/ If it is clear that this is a bug, then it will be moved to our github site and will have immediate visibility. As a very rough estimate, this will take about a month for a fix to appear in our github repository. The closing of the issue is just a technical artifact of our rather old and irritating support software. You can ignore it.
