Thanks. Now I remember this issue about testing the read count. I think Russ Rew did this fix. I did not realize the issue was raised by lustre. This is not an error per-se because short reads are documented legal behavior for unix IO. So, I assume that switching to the latest version of netcdf-c will fix your problem.
