One more point. Writing into memory could be implemented. but the problem is what to do if the amount written is larger than the block of memory. There are two obvious solutions: 1. have the netcdf-c library generate an NC_ENOMEM (out of memory) error, or some other error. 2. Don't have the user specify the memory, but rather have the netcdf-c library allocate and (when necessary) extend the memory and at nc_close, make it possible for the user to get the final memory block. =Dennis Heimbigner Unidata Ticket Details =================== Ticket ID: RTA-885842 Department: Support netCDF Priority: Normal Status: Closed =================== NOTE: All email exchanges with Unidata User Support are recorded in the Unidata inquiry tracking system and then made publicly available through the web.
