Hi Jeff: You cant do this: VariableSimpleAdapter var = new VariableSimpleAdapter(structureMembers.addMember("test", "test", "m", DataType.DOUBLE, new int[]{1})); because it creates a variable with non-shared dimensions, and you are writing to netcdf, which requires shared dimensions.
