[netCDF #EGH-664485]: NetCDF-Python

One other link I should have included is to the PUre PYthon NEtcdf REader/Writer
(Pupynere):

It uses the same API as Scientific.IO.NetCDF that you were looking at, so may be
a better choice than netcdf4-python if you have trouble installing the C library
and don't need support for the netCDF-4 enhanced data model.

I'll have to get back to you on that.  Our use has been the netcdf4-python
package that comes with the Enthought Python Distribution, so I've never
actually installed it from scratch ...
