The problem is that you are specifying
a slightly incorrect url.
If you insert 
http://apdrc.soest.hawaii.edu/thredds/dodsC/las/NRLNLOM32/data_apdrc.soest.hawaii.edu_dods_public_data_NLOM_32_nlom_u1_32.jnl.html
into a web browser, then you will see that it shows a typical
opendap request page.
You need to remove that final ".html" from the url
and use that.
