Burt, I've checked out the docs for Intel Fortran XE and it looks like they've included a script to set everything up for you (I would go ahead and undo the changes to /etc/ld.so.conf before moving forward - don't forget to execute ldconfig after you make changes). There should be a script provided by Intel for bash and csh to setup your environment.
