It is likely that there were changes to the calibration module and
possible that there were changes to the calibration module for Meteosat-8
data.

The best I can offer is the McIDAS Programmer's Reference Manual
which is hosted at SSEC:

There are no C++ bindings for the routines in McIDAS-X.

I've never written a non-McIDAS application that links against
the McIDAS library, so I'm afraid I won't be of much help, sorry.
