[McIDAS #GBO-964406]: Fwd: IR color table

Hi Carol,

OK, I was just curious. Aside: using channel 14 may be a very good choice
for GOES-17 (which, as of 18 UTC today, is now GOES-West) since that channel
gets affected by imperfect detector cooling at a higher temperature than
channel 13.

I can't imagine anyone caring about distribution of a McIDAS enhancement
table.

Even though the UNIT specified in this stretch is TEMP, a stretch simply
remaps input brightness to output brightness values. This is why my
previous email suggested that you need to figure out the range of brightnesses
that maps to the range of temperatures that you want to highlight.

Also, it is not clear to me what you had/have in mind wrt to use of a
stretch coupled with the enhancement that Tim provided. The question
is which range of colors in Tim's enhancement do you want to map to the
the temperature range that you mentioned originally?

Cheers,

Tom
