I am aware of the problem of missing POINT data on adde.ssec.wisc.edu (aka
idd.ssec.wisc.edu and unidata2-new.ssec.wisc.edu), but I have no idea why
there is a problem.

Until I have time to devote to troubleshooting the Unidata McIDAS-X v2017
installation on adde.ssec.wisc.edu, you are advised to access POINT data
from:

lead.unidata.ucar.edu
atm.ucar.edu

Also as an FYI:

We are now serving GOES-16 imagery and L2 products on atm.ucar.edu, so
this machine can be added to the list of Unidata ADDE servers that
you inform your users about.

Sorry for the delay... I've been swamped with a number of GOES-16 related
activities that are of top priority.

Cheers,

Tom
