[McIDAS #VCV-366716]: How to convert an image into AREA format?

Again, if this .hdr file is for ENVI, I can't help you as I have never used
ENVI.

Does ENVI support translation into AREA format?  If yes, do you have
a reference to ENVI documentation (URL) so I can take a look?

Again, I do not know what the '.gpf' format is.  I realize that it is an
FY2G image, but I don't have any idea what format the file is in.  Do
you have a reference that describes the format?

I will if/when you are able to create a raster (e.g., Sun raster format)
dump of the image, AND if you know what the projection is.  Going in
to how to use the routines would be a waste of both of our times if you
are unable dump the image as a raster and/or you don't know what the
navigation is.
