Hi Mike, Are you aware that the NWS will be conducting a test of delivering GOES-16 imagery that has not been remapped into either MERCator (Puerto Rico sector) or Lambert Conformal (CONUS and Mesoscale-[12]) projections starting tomorrow? At least one of the reasons for the test is reports by forecast offices that the remapped imagery can miss features (e.g., fire) signatures, so they are not as useful as they could be. I am hopeful that this test will result in a replacement of the remapped sectors in the NOAAPort SBN-delivered and LDM/IDD relayed imagery with ones that are created directly from ones being distributed in the GOES ReBroadcast (GRB). Part of my hope is that the internals of the un-remapped images will be the same as those in the GRB. If they are, McIDAS end users will be able to serve the data via ADDE using the SSEC-developed core ABIN servers (abinadir.cp and abinaget.cp). This will be a big win for McIDAS users, and users of ADDE enabled applications like the IDV, McIDAS-V and McIDAS-X.
