[McIDAS #WRK-701892]: general archive of McIDAS POINT source surface data?

Yes.  The PTSRCALL POINT dataset on adde.ucar.edu goes back at least 5
years.

NB:

- the PTSRCALL dataset has not been used much so access to it may be
  slow

- it also is to be considered to be experimental

  This means use at your own risk.
