[McIDAS #GHE-647300]: McIDAS-X 2016 isn't working because...

Hi Gilbert,

Do you mean from the console?

I don't understand the turning off autologin and keyring issues... I'll have
to get together with Mike Schmidt tomorrow (he is gone for the day) to
discuss what might be happening.

BUT, I verified that I can run McIDAS-X in two different ways with
no problems. Both of these ways required that I comment out the
setting of the DISPLAY environment variable in both the 'ldm' and
'mcidas' accounts. Here are the two ways:

1) ssh -XY address@hidden

DISPLAY gets set by the system; no user intervention is required

   cd $MCDATA
   mcidas

   Works nicely.

2) ssh -XY address@hidden

   su - mcidas

   cd $MCDATA
   mcidas

   Also works nicely.

That's all for today as I have to run...

Cheers,

Tom
