[McIDAS #EXQ-796373]: McIDAS install

Hi Paul, et. al.,

Sorry for the tardy replies. I am now in Phoenix in the exhibit area
working on getting things working for the AMS show, so my ability to
get to support email is limited.

OK, I don't know why you routinely get (connect() failed) messages. If all
of the scripts are run out of the 'mcidas' account, then you could change
the client routing table entries to use LOCAL-DATA instead of climate.cod.edu.
This should then do all requests out of your local account and bypass the
remote ADDE server altogether.

NB: this approach will not help if you are running the various scripts out
of a different account or from a different machine.

I will change the client routing info for you to see if this helps:

<as 'mcidas'>
cd ~mcidas/data
-- edit LOCDATA.BAT and replace climate.cod.edu with LOCAL-HOST
cd $MCDATA
batch.k LOCDATA.BAT

The connection is failing for some reason. This is likely to be some weird
problem with the networking setup on climate, not in McIDAS.

Cheers,

Tom
