SuSE 10 - yes. EUMETSAT successfully built Unidata McIDAS (not SSEC's
distribution) on SuSE 10; this required a slight modification
to the version of mccomp.sh that is included in the Unidata
McIDAS distribution

Unidata McIDAS-X/-XCD does not use the installation script approach
favored by SSEC. Instead, Unidata users:
- set needed environment variables in the 'mcidas' account
- unpack the Unidata McIDAS-X distribution as 'mcidas'
- CD to the ~mcidas/mcidas2006/src directory
- run 'make mcx' to build McIDAS-X or 'make all' to build
McIDAS-X and then McIDAS-XCD
- run 'make install' to install McIDAS-X or 'make install.all'
to install McIDAS-X and then McIDAS-XCD
