Hi HP,

re: Did you get the reply?

>No, no reply detected.

OK. Thanks for letting me know!

>Anyway, my emailing is now up and running again.

Very good.

re: me relying on users to understand which shell definintion file to use
>What I duly did.

Yes. The comment in the email I sent yesterday was specific about
relying on users -- like you -- to figure this out :-)

re: the website for YaST2 that I found through Google

>That is the keyword I was looking for. I seems to me what I would need
>is the following rpm (or other vesion):
>XFree86-man-4.3.99.902-43.48.ppc.rpm

I am uncertain about this being the particular one since it looks like
this might contain man pages.

On my work Fedora Core 5 Linux machine, I was able to use the 'rpm'
facility to figure out which package (RPM) X development stuff was
in:

% rpm -q -f /usr/include/X11/Xlib.h
libX11-devel-1.0.0-3.FC5.0

The same query on my home Fedora Core 6 machine yields:

# rpm -q -f /usr/include/X11/Xlib.h
libX11-devel-1.0.3-6.fc6

This will likely not work for you since this form of 'rpm' requires
the user to specify the name of a file that has been installed
in order to figure out what package it came from.

However, I would say that the name of the RPM that you should be looking
for would be similar to the two listed above.

>This would then readily install. It was available in the distributions
>of pre-10 SUSE, but funny enough is lacking in 10.1. I am trying now to
>track down N ADEQUATE XFree86 package (or do you have one?)

We do not maintain repositories of RPMs for Linux since they are
specific to the distribution being used.

re: let snow
>I like snow as well (in the moutains but not down here where it is
>always a mess).

It is snowing here at my house at the moment. I was supposed to
go skiing today, but the roads are very bad; several have been
closed by bad accidents.

On a completely different topic: UCAR is hosting a conference in
Ougadougou, Burkina Faso on April 2-6. I just sent a note to
Volker asking if there is any way that EUMETSAT could send you
(in addition to Henk Verschuur) to participate. I think that
your input would be invaluable given your active involement with
Don and Jeff on IDV development. What do you think?

Cheers,

Tom
