McIDAS could be useful to you in analyzing satellite image data from hurricanes, but it may not be that useful in getting you access to historic imagery _unless_ you know of a site that has hurricane images in McIDAS AREA format that you can download. Small comment: the first satellite pictures of hurricanes were likely made after 1960 when TIROS I was launched: http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/space/history NASA launched the Television Infrared Observation Satellite (TIROS) I, which proved that satellites can observe Earth's weather patterns. Subsequent TIROS satellites improved hurricane-tracking techniques and severe storm warnings, protecting lives and property in coastal areas around the world. >Regards. >----------------------------------------------- >Jos=E9 Leonardo Macias D=EDaz >=C1rea de inform=E1tica >_______________________________________________________ > >Consejo Sudcaliforniano de Ciencia y Tecnolog=EDa (COSCYT) >Colosio #1245 entre Granjas y Pel=EDcanos >Col E.
