20050208: Access to Unidata McIDAS-X (cont.)

Hi Again Ray,

I apologize for making you send in the information needlessly. It
would have helped (me, at least) if you had mentioned that "We were
allowed access to McIdas in the past, but we have the 2002 version
currently".

I am CCing Jennifer Oxelson, our web specialist, on this note so
that she will know that she should allow your downloads again.

Cheers,

Tom

>We've done this in the past. We are involved in a cooperative effort
>with the NWS at Taunton MA, Albany, and other offices. We are
>researching the enhancement of spotter programs with the use of radar
>data and highly accurate storm locator software to gain ground truth
>real time on severe weather. We are using level II radar data with a
>development ORPG to produce custom products to assist in this effort.
>
>This has been documented to greatly enhance the warning program.
>
>Our group contributed 80% of the verification of severe weather or
>more over the last several severe weather seasons.
>
>We additionally allow MET interns to assist in this effort.
>
>We also provide education to the community on severe weather. This
>includes assisting communities to be "STORM READY".
>
>Jeff Weber is familiar with most of our projects.
>
>We were allowed access to McIdas in the past, but we have the 2002
