I built and installed a new McIDAS XCD GRID decoder, DMGRID, on
adde.ucar.edu that I hope has the necessary changes to resolve the
problem you have been having AND doesn't break anything else (fingers
crossed).  We will know if the change works for the AVN grids when the
next forecast set comes in.
