OK, this is proof positive that you can write to this directory.  That
coupled with the read/write permissions on the files reinvorces what you
told me to begin with.

I wouldn't have expected this to do anything, but it was a good try anyway.

Hmm...  presumably the core file is being caused by IMGCHA?  What does
a 'file ~mcidas/workdata/core' report?

Any chance of me getting a login as 'mcidas' on your machine so I can
take a look around?
