John and Elen,

Thanks. It was my fault for not remembering to tell you this earlier
on. I verified that the change you made was sufficient to be able
to run McIDAS-X commands/sessions from correctly configured, non-'mcidas'
accounts.

Oops, guilty.

The change seems to be sufficient. Thanks again.

OK. I think that Elen should be able to do her research from her account
now.

Me too!

Hi John,

Thank you so much. Maybe I am very foolish too. But I am here at work
today (Sunday) and will try to find out if my account can "see" mcidas.

Keep yourself close to a shelter today. The forecast is calling for
severe weather this afternoon/evening. When I left to the church
parking lot this noon it felt as if I was entering a sauna.

Thanks Tom! It seems that we all are guilty of foolishness!
I will go down to the lab soon and try to work mcidas from my account.
Thanks again,
Elen

Another foolish night of late hours. (But at least this time I have an
excuse--local foul weather.)

Glad to hear that things (should?) work. If not, I presume be in as usual
tomorrow.

G'nite.

Lots of noise and confusion here, but things (somehow) get
done. Dr. Cutrim, after some minor hassles with data transfers to s418
did start analyzing data using the MCIDAS software.

The above changes have been made (hopefully properly) on s418 and the
machine nas been re-booted. Also, you might checkout the following:
    SU:/ilya2/ldm/logs> ls -l
    total 2
    lrwxrwxrwx   1 ldm      ldm            4 Jul 19 19:50 logs -> logs
I suspect that is not quite what was intended.

Rumor has it that a weekend is about to start, but I will probably check
my mail a time or two before Monday. Hope yours is quiet and pleasant.
