Gilbert,

Yes, they are cumulative.

Hmm... The scheduler files I can understand. I have been advising
people to move away from the scheduler and use cron for quite some
time, so I may be always installing SKEDFILE in ~mcidas/workdata.
This would overwrite your SKEDFILE and you would lose the settings.
Sorry. I suggest that you move to use of cron.

As far as your "ADDE list of files from which" you get data, I don't
understand. Do you mean that your REDIRECTions disappeared? Or,
perhaps, do you mean that your list of DATALOCs disappeared? Or,
could it be that ADDE dataset definitions disappear. In all
cases, your settings should not be touched. REDIRECTions are stored in
the file LWPATH.NAM that should exist in your McIDAS-X working
directory (~mcidas/workdata for the user 'mcidas'), and LWPATH.NAM does
not get overwritten by an install/update. If your Unix session is
setup correctly, then DATALOCs will be written into the file
~mcidas/data/ADDESITE.TXT and this file does not get overwritten by the
installation. This is controlled by the MCTABLE_WRITE environment
variable that should be set in your .cshrc file. As far as DSSERVEs,
these are stored in RESOLV.SRV and this file is not included in
the distribution.

If you meant something other than DATALOCs, REDIRECTions, or DSSERVEs
please let me know.

I do installs and updates all of the time on multiple systems here at
Unidata, and I never lose any ADDE setup information, so we need to
look closer at what happened at NIU.

BTW, I will be out tomorrow, so I won't be looking at email until
tomorrow night.
