A .edu's LDM can subscribe to the SATELLITE, NEXRAD2, and NEXRAD3 feeds from
idd.unidata.ucar.edu or iddb.unidata.ucar.edu regardless of whether or not it's
running in a VM. We do this as well as some of our clients.

The only problem we've seen with the LDM running in a VM is if it's trying to
ingest the NOAAPort broadcast directly from a satellite dish. In that case, the
hypervisor might re-order the incoming packets (causing problems) or other
things that the host computer is doing can cause NOAAPort frames to be missed.

I hope this helps.

Regards,
Steve Emmerson
