[LDM #ORN-677013]: missing NOTHER feed

Dave,

Either your network or your computer can't keep up with the data.

I logged onto edex.esci and executed the following:

    [awips@edex logs]$

This shows that, starting about 19 minutes after connecting to
idd.meteo.psu.edu, products started arriving too late. Their latency increased
as time went on -- leading to no products being inserted into the
product-queue. I suspect something similar is happening with edex-test.esci
based on its latency plot
<http://rtstats.unidata.ucar.edu/cgi-bin/rtstats/iddstats_nc?NOTHER+edex-test.esci.millersville.edu>.

The log-file timestamps indicate that products are arriving at an approximate
rate of one per second. This is during the "catch up" phase, when the last
hour's worth of products are being transmitted. At that time, products should
arrive much, much faster (10's or 100's of products per second).

Either your computer is trying to do too much (its 15 minute load-average is
only 2, however) or the bandwidth capacity of your network is too low.

I suggest using awips-test.esci to just request the NOTHER data (don't even
file the products: just receive them) and see if the problem persists. If it
does, then the problem is your network.

Regards,
Steve Emmerson
