[LDM #BOV-866570]: LDM crashes on noaaport.admin.niu.edu, then sends the load average skyrocketing

Gilbert,

Cool!

Thanks for the feedback.

> As you know, you just put out LDM version 6.12.10. The performance
> increase of this version is incredible. To wit:
>
> On weather2.admin.niu.edu, running CentOS 6, the load average fluctuated
> between 4 and 6, with 4 core processors. Now, it's solidly at 1.
>
> On noaaport.admin.niu.edu, running CentOS 5, the load was generally
> between 1 and 1.25. Now, it's a solid .03. A lot of times, it shows
> "0.00".
>
> But wait. Is this consistent? I logged into the College of DuPage servers
> and slapped it on their NOAAport ingester. Here's what happened:
>
> Load average with version 6.12.9: 1-1.25
> Load average with version 6.12.10: .05
>
> With warnings.cod.edu, it went from like 0.10 to 0.00. It only ingests
> IDS|DDPLUS, and that's about it.
>
> These servers are running newer versions of Debian. So, the improvement is
> not platform-specific.
>
> It also compiles faster. With no "lint" now, I don't see any warning
> messages while compiling.
>
> The bottom line: this is a major bugfix release, IMO, and a major
> performance improvement on CentOS/RH and Debian: FACT.
