The "Broken pipe" error shouldn't have occurred. I suspect that the shell 
interpreted the vertical bars in the feedtype expression (WMO|MCIDAS|FSL2) as 
metacharacters. 

Would you please send me the output from executing the command

    pqcat -vl- -f 'WMO|MCIDAS|FSL2|NLDN' -o 7200 >/dev/null

on the old and new systems.
