The new LDM hasn't been tested on a SunOS 5.6 system. It has been tested
on the following types of systems (duplicates removed):

    $ uname -a
    SunOS gilda.unidata.ucar.edu 5.8 Generic_108528-17 sun4u sparc
SUNW,Sun-Blade-1000
    $ ssh shemp uname -a
    SunOS shemp.unidata.ucar.edu 5.7 Generic_106542-23 i86pc i386 i86pc
    $ rsh zero uname -a
    SunOS zero.unidata.ucar.edu 5.9 Generic_112233-03 sun4u sparc SUNW,Ultra-4
    $ ssh -l ldm sapodilla.rsmas.miami.edu uname -a
    OSF1 sapodilla.rsmas.miami.edu V5.1 2650 alpha
    $ ssh -l ldm emo uname -a
    FreeBSD emo.unidata.ucar.edu 4.7-STABLE FreeBSD 4.7-STABLE #0: Fri Jan 24
15:53:42 MST 2003     address@hidden:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/MYKERNEL  i386
    $ ssh -l ldm desmata.ufpa.br uname -a
    Linux floresta.localdomain 2.4.18-2cl #1 Mon Mar 11 01:53:17 BRT 2002 i686
unknown

There are a few other systems on which the LDM has been tested -- but I
don't have access to them.

It looks like something's funny about SunOS 5.6.
