I keep running into root roadblocks.

ldm% cd /var/data/ldm
ldm% ls
logs
ldm% cd /usr/local/ldm
/usr/local/ldm: Permission denied
ldm% ls -l /usr/local/ldm^[[D^C
ldm% ls -ld /usr/local/ldm
/usr/local/ldm: Permission denied
ldm% ls -ld /usr/local/ldm/data
/usr/local/ldm/data: Permission denied


I suggest you ask Dr Joseph to grant me root priviledges for a day, then
you can change back your root password if you have security concerns...

This piece meal approach is not the most efficient use of your or my time.

As I mentioned, given a blank slate, pico, and root, i can set-up the LDM
in less than an hour, but we have many non-standard dir structures in
place, and altho we could work around this and make it work, I feel it is
in everyones best interest to star anew...This way, if you ever leave, the
LDM will have a standard install and will be easier to maintain..

I would suggest leaving the tar file and pico in the LDM dir and moving
the GEMPAK dist to /home/gempak then I will blast out the ldm dir and
build from scratch.. 


Thoughts...?


FYI UCAR closes at 3:00 MDT today, so I suspect we will do this monday.
