Hi Steven,
          In the nightly release, I added the feature to do the calibration for 
the GOES area files. You can give it a try. This is a ongoing project, the 
calibration for the GOES should be working for
both pre calibrated and raw area files. I am not sure if you can get the raw 
area file or not, if so, there are more information in the raw dataset.  The 
data subset feature for the local area file is still
under development, and it is my highest priority task.  Let me know if you see 
any issue.
