Hi Shuyi, I'm writing to update you on the status of a problem we ran into when trying to use the UMiami coupled model output (cplout and umwmout) files in the IDV. As you may recall, the problem was that the IDV was unable to aggregate multiple output files by time. One of the IDV developers got a chance to look at the files today, and he found that the reason that the cplout and umwmout files could not be aggregated by time is that they do not have a time dimension defined at all. This is in contrast to the wrfout files could be aggregated by time by the IDV since they do have a time dimension. I have attached a file, README, that is an overview of how to use a workaround that Sean (the IDV developer that looked into the problem) developed (using the file umwmout.ncml which is also attached), and some recommendations for how the cplout and umwmout file structure could be modified to make them immediately usable in the IDV. Please pass this information along to Milan so he can take a look. If he has any questions, please ask him to send an email to: address@hidden and make sure to include the tag 'IDV #JHS-477170' in the Subject: of his email. I'm sorry that we couldn't connect when you were in Boulder! I'm sure that we will see each other sometime in the future... P.S. We may use some of the UMiami coupled model output in the IDV WRF training session this coming Friday morning.
