When you are displaying the cross section or isosurfaces of 3D dataset,
depending on the size of each dimension, it could
consume a lot memory. If it is a large grid, you would be advised to subset it.

In some 64bit machine, remotely running the IDV may have some issues. The other
option
is VNC.
